Multiplication Tables Check
The Multiplication Tables Check (MTC) is a statutory assessment for Year 4 pupils in England, taking place in June each year. The purpose of the MTC is to determine whether children can fluently recall their multiplication tables up to 12, which is essential for future success in mathematics.
The check consistes of 25 questions, and children have 6 seconds to answer each question. Parents are encouraged to practice times tables with their children, as there is no specific prepartion required. The results will be reported to the Department of Education and parents will receive results as part of the end-of-year school report.
