Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) - French

A high-quality languages education should foster pupils’ curiosity and deepen their understanding of the world. Teaching should enable pupils to express their ideas in another language and to communicate for practical purposes. Our Key Stage 2 classes learn French as their modern foreign language. Key Stage One classes are exposed to the French language through songs and nursery rhymes.

We use the Language Angels program of study to ensure that our curriculum is sequential, systematic and engaging. The Language Angels curriculum is carefully planned around logical progression in phonics, vocabulary and grammar.

Ongoing assessment throughout the units of learning ensures that the language being taught is carefully planned and tailored to build on pupils’ ability and prior knowledge.
