Launching Workshop - 9th May
Owl Class travelled to South Wilts Grammar School for Girls to participate in the 'Launching' workshop. We learned about the science (physics) behind trebuchets before assembling our own and heading onto the playing field to practise our skills. We discussed how to alter the trajectory by extending or shortening the lever and honed in our target: an orange bucket. A number of groups scored direct hits and fun (and learning) was had by all!
Metamorphosis mixup!
In Owl class, we have been sequencing the lifecycles of amphibian and insects. Ask up the different stages our creatures progress through to become adults!
New Topic - NEW DRAMA (April 2019)
On Monday (29.04.19), Owl Class was introduced to Bollywood! After a half a lesson of being introduced to the style and some basic dance moves, the children set off planning their own dance in pairs or groups of 3. I was incredibly impressed with their routines and look forward to seeing what they produce at the end of term!
Today we acted out the 12 labours of Hercules. Ask the children to tell you about it! (26.04.19)

Netball Tournament (February 2019)
Having spent a term of playing in arctic conditions, the sun shone for our end of term class competition. I was very pleased by the standard of netball played, seeing the children applying skills taught throughout the term. Not that it matters, but the winning team was blue with 2 goals scored by Ana. However, each match was very close with sportmanship and teamwork very much on display. Well done, Owl class!
Marvellous Mechanisms (February 2019)
Water Dance (February 2019)
Owl class have used a river soundscape to create a dance influenced by water. During the term, they have learned about locomotor and non-locomotor movements and applied these and other techniques - such as different heights, cannon, and tempo - in their innovative routines.
Newsround - Plastic Pollution (February 2019)
After writing our balanced arguments, Owl Class turned into presenters, scientists, environmentalists and consumers to discuss what can be done about Plastic Pollution.
Streamlined Boats (January 2019)
In Science, Year 5 have been investigating forces. We made our own boats to discover how best to overcome water resistance. Much fun (and sellotape!) was had!!
