HAMPSHIRE SCHOOL GAMES ORGANISERS

Primary Schools #HSGDailyChallenges

Week 5 (27th April - 1st May) - Primary Physical Activity Challenge

Thank you for taking the time to look into our (Hampshire School Games Organisers) #HSGDailyChallenges.

I have set up a Test Valley (Romsey and Andover areas) Google Docs which has all the information you need for the Daily Challenges, including my contact details as your School Games Organiser – Holly Shirley. This link takes you to all of the weekly challenges, and the tutorials showing easy ways to do them at home.

Don’t forget - this is not a competition between students! This is a Personal Best Challenge where students, teachers and anyone else keep themselves active and score their results.

Each week new challenges are set and any students participating needs to ‘do” the challenge, ‘score’ the challenge, ‘practise’ the challenge over the week and ‘finish’ the challenge by taking a second score and submitting their results.

If it’s not a competition then ‘why record results?’ We all respond to targets, and by submitting the scores it will keep the students engaged, hopefully giving them the motivation to keep on trying…..plus there are daily and weekly rewards available…..but only to those that have submitted scores as they are the students we know are taking part.

On the link above there is a ‘How to submit scores’ document giving 3 options for submitting the scores J

The rewards are not based on results but on participation rates. Each school will also get points for every child that takes part and…….points mean prizes…..so let’s get our children active and support our schools!

Rewards:

  • Daily – 2 children from each SGO area will be chosen for participating and they will receive a certificate the following week
  • Weekly – the school with the highest participation rates (compared to the number of students in that school) will be chosen from each SGO area and they will receive a certificate the following week
  • Weekly – the school with the highest participation rate in the whole county will also receive a certificate the following week.

Awards:

Now whilst we are unable to deliver the awards at the moment, once the Daily Challenges are over, winners of the weekly rewards will also receive an award.

I hope you and your family/school teachers enjoy getting involved.

Recording of Results

Thank you for taking the time to look into our (Hampshire School Games Organisers) #HSGDailyChallenges.

Hopefully, you have seen the ‘Get Involved’ document that details how the Daily Challenges work and where to find the score sheets and tutorials. If not this can be found via the same link.

This document is all about how to record your results, please see below for the information you need.

How to submit your #HSGDailyChallenges scores

There are a few options with recording your child(ren’s) results:

  1. If you are familiar with Google Docs then please click on the link below to enter the scores for that week’s challenges.

Week 1 - https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1igghkLp3CxYFAxUUJyygARzqJrwj2TFf1-z8r1w4WP8/edit?usp=sharing

Week 2 - https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1xkkx3d86luuPg0OOoiBWbbvyL2Gi1UG9Wi9U1D8_g6A/edit?usp=sharing

With regards to the child's name - please remember to only give their first name, not their surname. With regards to your School Games Area (SGO) - If you are reading this document then yours is Test Valley and I, Holly Shirley, am your SGO.

If you are unsure how to use the Google doc there please watch the following tutorial.

  1. You can print off the word document, which can be found via the link below. There are different challenges each week. There are also tutorials on this link in case you need some guidance on how to complete the challenges.

Use that sheet throughout the week to score and practise with (feel free to add more names to it if you have more than one child - perhaps just colour code their scores).

  1. No printer – no worries, simply access the scoresheet via Google Docs (link above) or Facebook (TestValley SchoolGames, Hampshire SGOs) and make a note on paper of the different challenges. Keep a score on a rough piece of paper and then send the results through to me.

If you are going with option 2 or 3 then once your scores are completed you can either send the form to me via email holly.shirley@mountbatten.hants.sch.uk or you can take a photo and send it via email or Facebook to the @TestValley SchoolGames
