Sports Premium

The PE and sport premium is designed to help primary schools improve the quality of the PE and sport activities they offer their pupils. Schools receive PE and sport premium funding based on the number of pupils in years 1 to 6. Schools must spend the funding to improve the quality of the PE and sport activities they offer their pupils, but they are free to choose the best way of using the money.

We have decided to focus on training and development to meet the requirements of the new National Curriculum alongside offering our pupils the opportunity to experience sports and activities that they may not have access to at present. We aim to encourage pupils to participate in physical activity both in school and outside of school. We are also keen to build their confidence and self-esteem through controlled risk taking and team building activities.

Impact of the Sports Premium Funding

The funding has allowed us to offer more children the opportunity to participate in after school clubs by subsidising the cost.  As a result more children have attended these clubs.  Our equipment has been updated to offer teachers and coaches the opportunities to fully develop the skills necessary to help pupils to excel in a broad range of physical activities. EYFS has benefitted by being able to develop their balance and core muscles on the climbing wall and use of tricycles. CPD has enabled the teachers to maximise the potential in pupils and also develop their skills. We have been able to attend all of the tournaments in our cluster due to the funding which enables us to provide transport.

How will we monitor the impact of the Sports Premium Funding:

The school will be monitoring both the physical development & engagement levels of pupils through teacher observation and an assessment system and quality assurance measures.

The school will continue to offer a variety of after school sports clubs over the next academic year and will be closely monitoring the attendance to ensure maximum take up.

The school will continue to maximise opportunities for both in school and out of school sporting competitions. The results of the competitions will be shared via the website & school newsletter
