Our New Library

There is a real buzz going on in school about books. All year we have been thinking about reading, writing and storytelling. Part of our thinking about books has resulted in a plan to reinvigorate our school library. We have loved the library to bits and children, teachers, volunteer helpers and governors started to think about how we could regenerate this space to inspire a love of books.

Having asked some pupils what they would like to see improved in their school the Governors and Staff have all responded to the library project with enthusiasm and hopefully the children will enjoy and be inspired by the end result of their own exciting ideas.

fitting plans

We have been extremely fortunate to have the support of some excellent volunteers who are helping our children use the Library and are helping us to review our catalogue. We have also been working closely with the Library Service to ensure the books we hold are of high quality and inspire a love of books: reading and storytelling; and finding out information.

The new library was opened officially on Friday 13th March by Sir George Young MP, as part of a day focussed on books, authors, storytelling and writing. We invited the author Robin Price, who writes the Spartapuss series of Roman feline adventures, to lead writing workshops; our Library Service colleague Christine Lawson, who is adding some new books to our stock and storytelling with our younger pupils; our Governors, volunteers and project team.  It was an exciting day for the children and a fresh start for book lovers throughout school.
